One Island – Many Visions

As part of Portland & Weymouth Towns of Culture 2025  ‘One Island - Many Visions’, presents a curated exhibition of Portlands landscape legacy with symposium and programme of workshop /events developed over 18 months in partnership with  27 artists from the Royal Society of Sculptors  and Portland Sculpture & Quarry Trust. 

The exhibition runs from 06 September to 31 October 2025 and includes a two day Symposium  Sat 27 / Sun 28 September, focusing on environment and art, with speakers including David Buckland, Founder/Director of Cape Farewell project on Climate Change.

Public Transport Directions

BY TRAIN: The nearest Railway Station is as Weymouth where you will need to transfer to a bus or catch a taxi to Portland.

BY BUS: From late May to late September there is an open-top bus service between Weymouth and Portland. The Portland Coaster 501 bus, runs every two hours during the quieter season and every hour during the school summer holidays. The service starts and finishes at the Kings Statue (stop K5). The Portland Coaster is usually operated with open top buses for taking in the stunning views, however, closed top buses may be used during inclement weather or for operational reasons.

Road Directions

From Weymouth follow the A354 signposted for Portland. Once on Portland follow road through Fortuneswell and up the large hill. At The Heights Hotel roundabout turn right onto Wide Street then right at the Tradecroft Estate, the car park for Tout Quarry is at the bottom of the road on the right.
