  • Supporting continuation of artists' research & work in response to the environment

Through residencies, projects, workshops, and masterclasses that sow the seeds of collaborative research and participatory access as an agency of change, leading the way for challenging new work.

  • Temporary & permanent site specific work

An arts project that has grown from Portland's landscape, people and place, and saved Tout Quarry from further mineral extraction, continues to attract artists seeking interdisciplinary ways of working that unite the fields of arts, science and heritage. Revolutionary in its effect locally, nationally & globally in raising awareness of growing environmental concerns through access and engagement with the artists process and site specific work.

  • Preservation and interpretation of geology revealed through the quarrying process

PSQT’s ongoing interpretation of its Living Land Archive - a record of peoples working histories, the fossil record and ecology of changing environments - brings together a collective across disciplines within a platform for people to create change, with Portland as a microcosm of global environments, climate change and land use issues today.

  • Engaging communities in regenerating quarry environments

Through PSQT projects that unlock the creative potential and aspirations of young people. Creating gateways for people into landscape and nature, with interpretation, visitor experience, events and performances. Creation of new microclimates and habitats utilising our community partnerships and stewardship of the environment over 37 years.
